WHAT IS MMA?

Frequently billed as the world’s fastest growing sport, MMA combines wrestling and striking martial arts into one complete discipline, including Thai-boxing, judo, Brazilian jiu jitsu and boxing. Although contemporary MMA is only as old as the world’s first website and phenomenally proliferated with the growth of the internet, its roots can be traced as far back as Pankration in the ancient Olympic Games.

RULES & REGULATION

IMMAF Championships for over 18s take place under IMMAF Amateur MMA Rules, over 3 x 3 minute rounds. Competitors wear regulated protective equipment and compete in an enclosed competition area, for safety purposes. IMMAF is compliant to the World Anti-doping code and carries out drug testing of athletes at all its Championship events. All IMMAF competitors must be medically precleared through annual medical examinations and blood tests, independently verified by non-profit organisation, Safe MMA. Competitors also undergo daily pre- and post-match medical examinations, and IMMAF can boast a proactive and cutting-edge concussion policy.
